Snow Blower Cabs
For Added Protection While You Work

Snow blower cabs are those small compartments made of plastic and other wet-resistant material with a frame to hold them upright. These are attached to your snow blower so you can slip under the compartment and protect yourself from the snow or from the wetness outside.

Removing snow from your yard or driveway is already hard enough without the snow continuously bearing down on you. Aside from that, snow blower cabs are used to help protect you from the snow that you yourself are blowing. The snow can get in your hair and eyes and cause wetness, or simply smack you right in the face.

This can be extremely troublesome while you’re busy removing snow. The snow can also cause extra coldness and thus affect your ability to move snow for longer periods of time. These accessories can help keep you safe and comfortable, both of which are important factors that will ensure that you finish your snow removal tasks properly. Thus, it’s definitely a good idea to get yourself a snow blower cab.

Branded vs. Non-Branded Snow Blower Cabs

If you are interested in buying a snow blower cab, you have two options. First, to buy from an actual snow thrower manufacturer, which means you will have to find the exact model that matches your snow blower model. However, there are several generically manufactured cabs that are offered by brands that do not manufacture snow blowers but only snow blower accessories. These universal cabs are easier to find and usually comes in a one size fits all system. These are also generally more affordable than branded ones.

However, the easiest and safest way to buy a snow blower cab is to buy one from your snow blower manufacturer. This will help ensure a perfect fit. Brands that offer snow blower cabs include Toro, Husqvarna, MTD, and Ariens, among others. Toro also offers different cabs for their different snowblower collections. They have one design for the Power Max models, another for the Power Curve models, and so on. These rarely go under $100, though. As a rule, use universal cabs only if your manufacturer cab is unavailable or is too expensive for you. For unbranded ones, the average price is around $80 to $90.

What Factors to Consider

Design. Aside from the manufacturers, the design and size of cabs also differ. One important factor you should consider is the size of the lower window. If you’re using a snow blower that comes with front headlights, you may want to look for a cab with a clear window to allow the headlight to shine through, giving you low light visibility. These models tend to belong to the deluxe range and may cost you more.

Material. Snow blower cabs are also made of different materials. Whatever the material is, just make sure it is a strong, durable, and weather-resistant fabric. The fabric should also not shrink or stretch so that the cab will not lose its effectiveness in protecting you from oncoming snow. It should also be rugged enough to withstand many winters. And make sure the material is very clear and will not fog up even in low temperatures so you’ll be able to see the road clearly at all times. Frame. To match the fabric, the cab’s frame should also be durable. Ideally, the frame should be made of steel to withstand impact and even harsh winds.

Size. Aside from that, you should also carefully choose your cab size. The size of a snow blower cab determines just how much space you will have when standing inside it. Make sure the cab you choose is roomy enough so you can move freely, but not too big so that it won’t make moving along the ice uncomfortable. Attachment. Most of all, check how the cab attaches to your snow blower. Make sure the attachments fit securely and won’t suddenly come off. Some models also have adjustable fittings to allow you to change the angle of the cab. This is an added optional feature that you may want to consider too.

Why Invest in One

After spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on your snow removal equipment, your hesitation to spend even more on snow removal is understandable. And as an optional accessory, snowblower cabs are not a priority for most users. However, what good would a clear yard or driveway be if it costs you your health and safety? Snow blower cabs work like an umbrella would to protect you from the snow and also the generally harsh condition outside. These are very useful and very important snow blower accessories. It is recommended that all snow blower users use cabs at all times for their own health and safety.
