Snowblower Replacement Parts
Keep Your Snowblower in Top Shape

Snowblower replacement parts will help extend the life of your snow removal equipment. The job that these equipment face on a regular basis is quite a challenging one, so snow blowers are very prone to wear and tear. Surely, at some point, one or a couple of parts will wear out or break.

If this happens, don’t go out and buy a whole new snow blower. There’s no need to spend a ridiculous amount of money yet. You can simply shop for replacement parts to revive your broken machine. These replacement parts will help you get the most out of the money you invested in buying your snow blower by making it last for years.

Different Types of Snow Blower Parts

Skid Shoes. Two stage snow blowers are equipped with solid steel augers that can easily damage paved surfaces. This is why single stage snow blowers are ideal for paved paths, while two stage models are used for unpaved paths. This is because two stage snow blowers have a unique design in which the auger does not touch the surface.

However, if you find that your snow blower still kicks up some gravel stones, you should look for one with a skid shoes. Skid shoes wear out fast, though, so you will probably need to look for replacements too. Skid shoes leaves behind a thin layer of snow to keep the auger from touching the ground.

There are many types of skid shoes, namely metal, non-abrasive, and rolling skid shoes. Metal ones are the most affordable, but they sometimes leave scratches on the ground. Non-abrasive ones use a composite material that does not scratch the surface, but they are more expensive. Non-abrasive offer the additional advantage of being reversible, so they can last twice as long as the ordinary metal ones. Rolling ones are the most expensive and the best in terms of performance; since they are equipped with wheels, they also help you maneuver the machine easily.

Scraper Bar. The scraper bar is what makes sure the snow is thoroughly removed from the surface of paved paths that are cleaned using a two stage snow blower. The scraper bar gets rid of the thin layer of snow without scratching the surface. Due to their regular contact with the ground, however, scraper bars easily get damaged, so they should be regularly replaced. If you don’t replace it and continue to use it even when it’s already worn, you won’t be able to thoroughly get rid of the snow and the snowblower will thus leave an uneven job, and you will be forced to do the job again.

Scraper bars are usually made of nylon or plastic, but they need to be extra durable to withstand contact ground contact. Remember to inspect the scraper bar regularly, but be sure to do this with the machine turned off. If you’re not satisfied with the performance of your snow blower, take a look at the scraper bar. A new bar might just solve the problem, so you don’t need to buy a new snow blower. When buying snowblower replacement parts, make sure the new scraper bar you buy matches the size of the old model that you used and go for a durable material to ensure longevity.

Blade Paddles. Blade paddles are snowblower replacement parts that make up the auger system. These rubber paddles should be in good condition for your snow blower to do a thorough and excellent job of clearing away snow. If the rubber blades are worn out, they should be replaced. Usually, the determining factor is whether the paddles are worn down to a quarter of an inch above the ground. When replacing rubber paddles, always replace them by set; do not replace just one piece of the paddles.

Aside from the blade paddles, other auger parts that may need to be replaced include the impeller, which is found in two stage snow blowers. Since the impeller shares in the task of the auger, it will also experience a tough run each time you put your snowblower to use. Thus, don’t be surprised if, at some point, your impeller might need replacing. Thankfully, impellers are some of the widely available snowblower replacement parts. Just make sure to find the matching brand and model for your snowblower.

Shear Pins (for snowblower attachments). Snow blower attachments that are used with three point hitch systems and tractors are equipped with shear pins, which are useful safety features. These connect the auger to the auger shaft. They have grooves that allow them to snap if the engine produces far too much torque, thus keeping the gear case and auger shaft safe from possible damage. These shear pins eventually wear out though, so you should replace them from time to time.

Replacement Parts for Snow Shovels

You will also find replacement parts for snow shovels. If you’re using a shovel instead of electric or gas-powered snow blowers, then the chances of you requiring replacements parts are actually greater. After all, these manual snow removal tools are less durable than electric or gas-powered ones. Thankfully, if your snow shovel blade or its wear strip eventually wears out or if your shovel’s handle breaks, you can also buy replacement blades, wear strips, and handles. The availability of snow shovel and snowblower replacement parts will protect you from the need to purchase a new snow removal tool and thus will help save you a lot of money.
